What Is Staxyn?
Vardenafil (Staxyn) is a medication that works by increasing blood flow to the penis and relaxing the muscles within blood vessel walls to help promote erection.
Although all types of PDE-5 inhibitors have the same mechanisms of action, Staxyn is slightly different because it’s an orally disintegrating tablet, which means that it dissolves in your mouth and starts working as early as 15 minutes post-dosing, studies revealed (3).
How Long Does Staxyn Last?
When taken as directed, Staxyn can last for up to eight hours. Like other medications for erectile dysfunction, Staxyn should be prescribed by the doctor, and you have to follow all the directions on the label to avoid any problems.
What Should You Consider Before Taking Staxyn?
Staxyn and other Vardenafil variants can be lethal if taken in combination with other drugs, which is why it’s crucial to consult a doctor before using it.
For instance, you should not take Staxyn if you are taking medications for pulmonary hypertension or if you are using a nitrate drug for heart problems or chest pain. Taking Vardenafil with medicines that contain nitrates or nitrites can cause a sudden and lethal drop in blood pressure.
How Should You Use Staxyn?
Following the instructions on the prescription label, you should only remove Staxyn from its packaging when you’re ready to take it. Carefully place the tablet on your mouth and let it dissolve without chewing.
Never drink water or any other liquid together with Staxyn. Just swallow several times as the tablet dissolves in your mouth.
Staxyn should also be taken only as needed and about 60 minutes before sexual intercourse. Remember that this medication will not cause an erection by itself.
You need sexual stimulation to promote an erection. If you get an erection that lasts more than 4 hours or if you’re experiencing any pain, make sure to consult your doctor right away since prolonged erection can cause significant damage to the penis.
